Damian Lillard Ignites Milwaukee to Victory Over Suns in Giannis’s Absence
In a show of playmaking and sharpshooting, Damian Lillard racked up 31 points while dishing out 16 assists, leading his team the Milwaukee Bucks to a thrilling 140-129 victory over Phoenix Suns this Sunday. In addition to Lillard’s outstanding game, Bobby Portis matched with 31 points, and also nailed 10 boards. Milwaukee’s streak of success from out beyond the circle continued when they hit 24 triples, making it a win without their star player, Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Giannis is an unstoppable force this season, scoring an average of 30.8 scores and 11.2 boards per game, has been ruled out because of an injury to his left hamstring. After missing only three games before the rest he took was the first time he has been absent since March. It was due to Achilles tendinitis, a different problem.
The Milwaukee’s coach, Doc Rivers, downplayed the seriousness of Giannis’s illness. “It’s more about being cautious,” Rivers declared. He emphasized that the timing allowed for some time to relaxation, and he also was pleased with Giannis’s choice to sit out.
Even though the Suns lost 15 points heading into their fourth period, the Suns managed a comeback, and widened the gap to seven points after an Bradley Beal layup. But a Lillard three ended to the momentum, bringing Milwaukee’s lead back to 14 points with just more than three minutes left in the game.
“I aimed to be a consistent threat,” Lillard stated after making history by becoming being the only Bucks player to rack up at 30-points and 15 assists during an entire game. The goal wasn’t always scoring but creating trouble for the defense was certainly.
In addition to Milwaukee’s power was Khris Middleton who, after a break of 16 games because of injuries to her ankle, scored 22 points. Middleton’s return to the team was timely particularly when Giannis being out. Lillard saw it as a boost to the morale of players who were already struggling with the loss of their primary player.
The Suns were led by Beal leading the way with 28 points. He was aided with Grayson Allen’s 25,, and Devin Booker’s 23.
Milwaukee broke the NBA record for the most 3-pointers during the first half, with 18 attempts from deep, tying with the records made by both The Suns as well as the Utah Jazz.
Coach of the Phoenix team, Frank Vogel, commented about the arduous task of having to defend against a star player like Lillard and noted that applying too much pressure on Lillard outside can cause the 3-point line to be vulnerable.
Portis was awe-inspiring in the first half from the bench, scoring 25 points with an incredible shooting percentage of 10-13, which included five of five from the three-point range. All of this was accomplished in just 13 minutes.
A powerful rally that was led by an Allen three cut to the Suns’ deficit to the final third quarter. However, Milwaukee, boosted by the Lillard long-range bomb and a Lillard long-range bomb, ended the third quarter with a 15-point lead.
The victory solidified Milwaukee’s position as second at the top of Milwaukee’s second-place position in Eastern Conference, while Phoenix is 6th within the West.
Next on Schedule:
The Suns will host the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday.
The Bucks go on the road to take on their rivals the Boston Celtics also on Wednesday.

Phoenix Suns vs Milwaukee Bucks MATCH PLAYER STATS – SUMMARY – FAB 7, 2024
Kevin Durant’s High-Flying Act Leads Suns Past Bucks
In a showdown between NBA giants It was the legendary Kevin Durant who owned the stage, blasting across his Milwaukee defenses to land spectacularly over the massive Giannis Antetokounmpo.
At 35, and with an all-new notch on his record as a 14-time All Star, Durant does not show any indication that he’s slowing his pace. Actually, some of his latest performances may indicate that he’s on track to make it a double.
Phoenix Suns coach Frank Vogel was not shy about praising his team Frank Vogel was adamant, saying “When it’s time to attack the rim, [Durant] rips it apart.”
Leading an easy path with his 32-point performance Devin Booker led the charge with 32 points, while Durant contributed 28 points and rekindled the fire at the end of the game. The Suns beat the depleted Bucks by a score of 114-106 in the game on Tuesday night.
With the fourth quarter underway and an impressive lead, Durant’s signature dunk, which earned him an extra point following a foul, helped propel to the Suns to a comfortable 93-80. Durant was later reflecting on the event, expressing gratitude that to have opted for the basket instead of an easier shot.
The dunk, which was played with a tactical approach, was the highlight of Durant’s impressive final quarter, as he hit in consecutive shots while scoring fourteen points. The Suns who were shook by injuries earlier in the season are on fire since mid-January and boast an impressive record of 11-3.
However to the other team, the Bucks were terribly disappointed with the star player Damian Lillard due to a injured ankle, as did the center Brook Lopez for personal reasons. In addition to the aforementioned issues, Khris Middleton exited early after suffering an ankle sprain from his own.
In the lead for this team, the Bucks, Antetokounmpo churned out 34 points, while also collecting 10 rebound. Malik Beasley threw in a impressive 22 points to his total.
Bucks head coach Doc Rivers, despite acknowledging the effort the team had put in, believed that the absence of offensive options eventually resulted in their defeat. One bright spot for the Bucks, according to Rivers the team’s strong defense.
It was the Bucks fifth game under Rivers who came in following Adrian Griffin was shown the exit. Despite a lackluster start to the season, Antetokounmpo remains optimistic about the team’s development, particularly on the defensive side and has called for more focus and effort.
After an uneventful road trip The Suns won despite not performing at their best beyond the arc. They had only an average of 29% success from three-point range. Bradley Beal also put up impressive numbers with the score of 25 and 10 rebound.
Booker Recently awarded his 4th All-Star selection, had an impressive shooting performance. Additionally, Jusuf Nurkic also stood out with a double-double of the area of points and rebound.
The Bucks had narrowly edged out the beginning of the half, leading by one point despite not-so-great shooting performance.
Middleton’s night ended abruptly after falling awkwardly on Durant’s feet post-jump shot. Officials giving Durant an Flagrant 1 for the contact. The subsequent X-rays of Durant, who is a three-time All-Star Middleton were negative, which gave an air of calm in the uncertain situation.
