BOSTON (AP) Jaylen Brown scored 29 points, Jayson Tatum had 27 on his birthday of 26 years, and the NBA’s best Boston Celtics posted their third-largest winning margin in their history beating the tired Golden State Warriors 140-88 on Sunday.

Stephen Curry didn’t play the second half, but he did score only four points on the season in the loss for Golden State, his fewest since he scored just three points in a span of 16 minutes in March 2022 against Boston the game in which in which he left with an injury to his foot. Curry was just 2-13 from the field on Sunday and was unable to complete the entirety of his three-point attempts, including two airballs in the first quarter.
“The way that they’ve been playing, they seem very sure of themselves in their identity and who they are,” Curry stated. “Give these guys credit. They walked out and beat us right from the start It seemed like one perfect storm that come with an unforgiving (day) on our part and their taking it to us.”
It was the fourth worst loss in the history of the franchise Warriors. It was the first time they had won 11 games out of 13games, including the first three games of the East Coast trip that included three games over four days. They also had a lengthy drive to Toronto that saw them had to sit on asphalt for hours over the course of.
Lester Quinones led Golden State with 17 points over a record-setting 33 minutes. The Warriors players played longer than 20 minutes or Moses Moody (11 points) was the only player who scored in double figures.

Brown started the game by striking three straight 3s over the span of 40 seconds while Green playing a unique defense by letting him be on his own and dropping him off at 5 feet at least a few times during the first quarter.
“We told Jaylen, ‘If they’re going to keep doing that, you should shoot 20, 30 3s,'” Pritchard stated.
Brown had 19 points during the second quarter, and hit 5 of 8 3s which helped push Boston to a lead of 44-22.
“First time it’s ever happened to me,” Brown admitted of his lax defense. “Honestly I was quite shocked. It took a few minutes of adjustment and I believe we just benefited from the situation and got the most out of it.
“If you wanna dare me to shoot, we can do that, too,” said the actor. “I thought it was a little disrespectful, but we took advantage of it and we didn’t look back.”
Curry who was listed as doubtful due to right knee bursitis did warm-ups before deciding to play. Curry front-rimmed his first three before airballing his next two.
“Boston was simply amazing. We were not able to beat the Boston team this time,” Golden State coach Steve Kerr said. “This wasn’t a time to rest for Steph although he could have benefited from one. He’s had a great time and for so long this season I’m hoping that in the coming days will see him recharged.”
In the first period, Boston scored 62.5 percent from 3s (10 from 16,) and 57.1 percent all-around (16 of 28).).
Tatum’s 3-pointer in the left-wing increased the score to 74-34 during the second.
The Warriors were unsuccessful on 15 of 18 3-point attempts during the first quarter as well as Boston scored three 3-pointers (15 out of 24) during the second half, while Golden State had baskets.
Boston was escorted off the court in a rousing ovation after halftime. They held an 82-38 advantage.
